Thank you for putting together this nice page, very informative. I am trying to locate the fabric that is similar to that in a thick, long, striped crimson and grey robe brought back from Europe by an uncle in the 1940s. It was so thick and beautiful with a heavenly luxurious feel. This was wonderful to fall asleep in. Unquestionably a fine silk weave of superior heavy weight and texture.
Have you any clues on the maker or the specific weave and type of silk? If I close my eyes, I can almost see the label, but with all these decades a hypnotist would likely be required to recall it! Thank you again!
